Good Author, Good Book, Good Reading.

I bought this for my 11 year old son and he loved it. As soon as he removed it from the packaging he started to read it and almost finished it in the same day.

I used to read R. L. Stine when I was a kid in middle school and I hoped that my son would like them as much as I did. I was right.

Now if I could only find the book Blade of the Poisoner in Spanish, it would be GRAVY>

Short n Sweet

The first story was decent and what you would expect: a man is turned into an infant by his wife. The second story a hot woman is turned into the chubby little girl she used to be, which was basically a retread of another of the author's stories. The third was really, really short so while it says 3 tales it's mostly 2 unless you count the framing device as another story. The writing is OK though the formatting isn't great. You can pretty much read this in 45-60 minutes, so you could polish it off during a lunch break.

Dr. Sten Odenwald is an astronomer at the National Institute of Aerospace, and works at the NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center in Maryland. He has published over 100 articles on astronomy in his research areas of star formation, the cosmic infrared background, and space weather. He is an award-winning science popularize with nine books published since 1995 along with numerous articles for magazines such as Astronomy and Sky and Telescope. He has also appeared on TV and radio programs discussing the vulnerability of our technology and health to solar storms. His Astronomy Caf� website, now 20 years old, is one of the oldest privately-funded internet resources in astronomy education. Through his many blogs with the Huffington Post, he continues to present new ideas to the public related to astronomy, space travel, archeology and cancer research.

An excellent book, full of very useful facts and figures

An excellent book, full of very useful facts and figures. The arguments which support the complexities associated with interstellar travel are very well presented and at a level which is easily comprehensible. I read the book in less than a day and will use it as a reference. The only thing which could have improved it (and likely put the cost up) is to use better quality figures and in colour as some of the text refers to colour annotations in black and white figures. I would certainly buy from this author again and look forward to Dr Odenwald's next book.

A Very Good Book but with a But

Generally the book was very good but I did find some issues with how the book was laid-out by the publisher.

The writing was excellent as was the content. I enjoyed the “going down memory lane” with references to Sci-Fi books & authors. There were so many topics that I relished where it would be difficult to pick on one but I will with “Space is not all that Empty!” which included as an example analysis of the impact of dust grains when travelling sub-light speeds. There was good mix of scientific calculations, facts and explanations. Notwithstanding the “Astronomer’s Guide”, this book should have widespread appeal to those are interested in interstellar travel beyond a discussion on the various means of locomotion.

The negatives. The various pictures were untitled, many I could guess at but not all; and while there were “Image Credits” at the back of the book, not all images in the book were referenced here. The text referred to a graph on the next page with “green shade” - - - the problem is the graph is B&W, not in colour. The ordering of the Bibliography is not in the order that the Chapters appear in the book.

I would like to give this book five stars but have to drop it one star because of the “negatives”. Nevertheless I would recommend this book to others who are interested in Interstellar Travel.

Respect For Those Who Live In Slums

More than anything else this book shows another way to look at those who live in the slums. That way is with respect as viable, productive human beings who can and want to contribute positively to society when given the opportunity do do and when their needs are met as they undergo the transition and growth process. A lot should be taken from this book and the numerous organizations, individuals and research studies which are mentioned in this book when it comes to redeveloping poor areas and revitalizing inner cities around the world.

About the Author
Deborah Turbeville, a fashion editor turned photographer, was a fashion editor for Mademoiselle in 1966. A portfolio of some very stylized photographs she did for Saks Fifth Avenue was her first big breakthrough into the fashion photography world. Subsequently, her work first appeared in Vogue in the 1970s. Since then she has been a dominant figure in contemporary photography. Turbeville has authored many books, including Unseen Versailles, Wallflower, Studio St. Petersburg, Past Imperfect 1978-1997, and Casa No Name. Her work continues to be exhibited around the world and is published regularly in many international magazines.�

Loved IT! Insripartional

I am a big fan of Deborah Turbeville's work and this book was fabulous. I love the feel/mood of the images and I am happy to have this book as part of my photography library. I also have her "Past Imperfect" book too. I think this one is better, though I love them both. Found the book to be very inspirational. Lots of ideas for shooting I would like to do.

Wonderfully inspiring and provoking. What a visual stimulus! Sit down with a master story teller. Almost like reading a sketchbook of a wonderful painter.
